Design Engineer & Manufacturing Engineer for the X10 Drone

A core mechanical creator of the x10 drone, from prototype to mass production

  • I designed over 30 parts used in the drone, in addition to performing DFA/DFM on the arm, battery charger, and night autonomy subassemblies

  • I built the assembly lines for the four arms on the X10, as well as multiple accessory lines. I was the first engineer to ever use automated equipment, and increased throughput by 400%

  • I led the manufacturing design of the drone joint points, connections, & interfaces. I had to design robust solutions in as small of a footprint as possible.

Elevating Skydio

I was the manufacturing design engineer responsible for all the decisions you see that were made in this video

  • Transitioned the drone from using magnesium and unfilled PC to glass and carbon-filled polycarbonates to increase thickness without adding weight

  • Implemented ultrasonic welding to increase strength and decrease weight without using screws or snaps

  • Performed cross-sectional analyses on the daily

The blue arrows point to components and subassemblies that I heavily worked on (wish I could have pointed at everything, but that would look messy)

In addition to design…

I led the DFM for plastic parts company-wide, managing over 40 parts

I completed a project to develop and implement a semi-automatic ultrasonic welding solution for assembly joining, resulting in improved cycle time, product quality, and repeatability.

I built the most automated assembly line the company had ever seen, resulting in a 400% increase in line throughput
